Vidalia Fire Department

Mission Statement

The mission of the Vidalia Fire Department is to provide professional services to the City of Vidalia and the Citizens in the areas of fire protection, fire education, fire prevention, EMS services, hazardous materials response, and various types of rescue.  We are a very small department of 15 full time line firefighters, and 3 administration personnel which consist of the Chief, Assistant Chief, and Admin. Secretary.  We are committed to the most up to date training in the evolving methods of various types of Fire Department related fields.  We are also very much committed to the objectives of the Office of Homeland Security.  Our department not only provides coverage for the City of Vidalia, but when called upon provides mutual aid to the volunteer department that covers the entire Parish.

Our Hazardous Materials Response Team is prepared to travel with equipment and personnel to where ever they may be needed by direction of the Concordia Parish Office of Homeland Security. We continue to work very closely with the local Office of Homeland Security in preparation for any type of natural or un-natural disaster.

Our special rescue response teams work closely with local industry in various types of rescue training including but not limited to high angle rescue, trench rescue, confine space rescue, extrication, and rapid intervention teams.

Our department also works closely with local law enforcement in the fight against arson and juvenile fire setters.  Members of local law enforcement also volunteer their off time to participate in training with The Vidalia Fire Department to better help the department on various types of scenes when needed.
